Isuca (イスカ Isuka?) is a Japanese action manga series by Osamu Takahashi. It has been serialized in Kadokawa Shoten's seinen manga magazine Young Ace since 2009, and has been collected in six tankōbon volumes as of March 2015. An anime adaptation by Arms started to air in January 2015.[1]

- Sakuya Shimazu (島津 朔邪 Shimazu Sakuya?)

- Sakuya is the de facto 37th head of the Shimazu family, but is currently in a power struggle with her sister over the position. Her task is sealing monsters and spirits that cross over into this world, and unlike many in her family does not believe in collateral damage or the ends justify the means. She uses a bow and arrow with several spiritual attacks in combat and when charged by Shinichiro those attacks are amplified ten fold, though she does not want to do this is it mean she needs to be kissed by him. She appears haughty, but underneath is a young lady who wants to just live like a normal person. Her true name is Isuca, and when Shinichirō discovers this, she becomes unable to disobey any order he gives. In order to save face and avoid losing her position in the family, she forces Shinichirō to become her fiancé, if only in name.

- Shinichirō is an average high-school student with an unusual ability: the Eyes of Truth. Whenever he kisses a supernatural being or a person with supernatural powers, he immediately learns said being's "true name", or mana. Since the first person to speak an individual's true name gains the ability to compel said individual to do whatever he wants (within reason), he becomes a powerful ally in Sakuya's work. Unfortunately, he's forced to learn and speak Sakuya's true name, leaving her unable to disobey him.

- A two tailed cat-spirit with red hair and a large bosom. The first spirit Shinichiro meets and learns her true name when she kisses him to thank him from saving her from Sakuya after clearing her from suspicion of a lightning beast attack. Like most spirits she needs life energy to survive, though she has never attacked anyone in her life. She can turn from human to a giant cat form. She was given her name by her Master in order to hide her true name. Like most cats she is prone to blatant affection to her master, eating her meals on the floor and bringing her master her caught prey and expecting praise.
- Suseri Shimazu (島津 須世璃 Shimazu Suseri?)
- Voiced by: Mao Ichimichi
- Suseri is the cousin of Sakuya who is in the running to be the next head of the Shimazu family. She specializes in sealing magic and wind magic. In the beginning, she tried to increase her chances of becoming the next head by trying to steal Shinichiro away from Sakuya. She tried to seduce him while he was taking a bath. Unfortunately, this plan ended in failure because it led to him being knocked unconscious. Later on, she transferred to the high school that Sakuya and Shinichiro attended not only to steal Shinichiro but to investigate a possible specter case that was occurring on the school. As time passed by, she began to develop feelings for Shinichiro to the point that she gave him her true name. Her true name, ironically, is Sakuya.

- Isuca is one of the main antagonists of the anime. She holds a huge grudge against the Shimazu. She mainly focuses on Sakuya, but she doesn't want to immediately kill her. She wants to torture her by killing the people closest to her until she has given up on her life then kill her. This plan led to her speculating about kidnapping Shinichiro, but decided to confront him alone and putting a tracker on him by biting him on the neck. She did this in order to find out where the main house of the Shimazu family was located. There has been speculating on why her name is Sakuya's true name.
